A unique French school in Chicago

 LA PETITE ÉCOLE DE CHICAGO (LPEC) is the Premier French Bilingual school of the Midwest, serving Chicago's North Shore, and Old Town / Lincoln Park neighborhoods.  L'INSTITUT BILINGUE, our full Secondary School Program also serves children remotely and offers adult language classes.

Full-year program

LPEC is not a daycare; it is a full-time French school, with a specific curriculum. We welcome students Monday to Friday.

Preschool

LPEC offers a total French immersion program from Pre-K3 to Kindergarten. Your child will acquire strong academic fundamentals while learning French.

Geometry is a main subject in the French curriculum

Elementary school

From 1st to 6th Grade, the program becomes bilingual French-English, and it is tailored to each student's needs.

Middle and Highschool

Grades 7 to 12 are fully bilingual with some subjects taught completely in English, such as British and American History. This track prepares students for the Brevet des Écoles at the end of 9th grade and the French Baccalauréat in 11th and 12th grades.

Our French school is located in the Winnetka Community House, serving the Northshore, a block from Winnetka UP-N Metra station.

Old Town, in the heart of Chicago

Coming soon, a French school in Lincoln Park, Chicago

LPEC is preparing a new French preschool and elementary school campus in Old Town, where we'll welcome your child starting in September 2024.

French teacher of LPEC

Mme Balius is a Professeur des Écoles with the CAPE certificate, 17 years of experience, including 7 years at a French School in San Diego and 4 years at LPEC.  

She holds a Bachelor’s in Chemistry and a Master’s in teaching French as a Foreign Language.

Mme Chantereault has been a teacher of FLE (French as a Foreign Language) for over 15 years, including 3 years at LPEC. She holds a Master's in FLE and a CAPEFE certificate (teacher of French abroad). She also taught at the Alliance Française and at the French Institute of the North Shore.

Mme Cohen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and has over ten years of teaching experience in primary grades.  She currently teaches English language arts to Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 students at our Winnetka campus.Though a native English speaker, Mme Cohen also speaks French.

Mme Marjolaine Fath

French teacher of the preschoolers and kindergarteners in Hyde Park

Mme Fath is a Professeur des Écoles with the CAPE certificate, 9 years of experience, including 2 years at LPEC, and significant experience teaching FLE. She also had the occasion to implement FLE methods for students from 8 to 14 year olds.  She holds a Bachelor's in Education Science and a Master’s in Education.

Cycle 4, Physique/Chimie

Mr. Maschino holds a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University, a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering from ESTA (outside Paris) and an MBA from DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. He has been teaching scientific subjects to our middle and high school students for 4 years.

and Principal

M. Palacci holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Law and Organization from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and an MBA from INSEAD.  He founded LPEC and chairs the Comité Académique.
